From Monday, Nov. 14 through Monday, Nov. 21, DentalPlans.com spearheaded a social media-fueled effort to support the Operation Smile charity.

The goal: to correct cleft palettes of seven children in 7 days. The need is great. In fact, one estimate says that one in 600 children are born with a cleft palette. Of those born with a cleft palette, one in 10 will die before their first birthday. The cost to correct the condition is as little as $245.

DentalPlans.com saw this as an opportunity to give back to those in need of something that they know best – dental care. So, they sprang into action. From the 14-21st of November, DentalPlans.com matched donations made by their Twitter and Facebook followers to this great cause. White Collar Star Sharif Atkins even got into the act by donating revenue from “The Booking Room” workshop series to the cause.

This philanthropic effort is nothing new to DentalPlans.com. They note that “since June 2011, DentalPlans.com has been working to heal the smiles of more than 40 children (collectively) around the world by teaming up with Operation Smile and donating a minimum of $10,000.”
